We're playing Atoll 131, a horror game. I don't typically play horror games, but I do play some backroom co-op games, so I should be okay. Reading the safety guidelines - radiation on the surface is 2.1, at 100% exposure I will die. There's a cave as well. The lore mentions four crew members dispatched to explore the radio station, a volcano with high radiation, a mask artifact, and crew members successfully evacuated with one requiring extensive psychiatric rehabilitation. Plans for secondary excursion put on hiatus. Recommend no further investigation. Wait, what am I doing again? I did inspect everything, did I? Interesting that I can see through the selection thing - might be something minor. Also, there's a choppy transition when you get out of the interaction. I'm assuming something triggers the dialogue here. Which is a little annoying because I just got it inside the boat. At the shore now. That looks like one of those Friday emojis - the laughing emoji might be the sun. I'm assuming that's the radio station. I wonder if there's a movement speed bonus for bunny hopping. The scanner mechanic is like Subnautica where you scan for blueprints. Set up seismograph across the island. Pretty sure the other one was highlighted and this seismograph was not - makes kind of a creepy sound. There's a detection range check, that's good. "You are too close to another seismograph" - why does it do a dialogue pop-up and not a normal on-screen pop-up? It stops me from playing the game. That can be bad. Found new plants. It seems like the game is getting darker. Damn, that's a lot of plants. Wonder if I get energy for scanning them. Funny little shadow glitch on what I thought was a person. The grappling gun - does it let you go forward? What if I try to fight the movement? What if I sprint to make it faster? I don't think it does. Sometimes the wall scaling doesn't work. Does it have to be completely vertical? I guess it does. I'm guessing I also have to face where I'm going. Oh, it checks if you're falling - that's not fun, can't do clutches with that. At the station now. How am I supposed to know what to do here? Ow! Interesting, so it has to be the top one. Nice to have a checkpoint here, otherwise I'd be kind of mad. Anything suspicious looking? Let me try to fall down. Whoa, I'm going up! That looks down for some reason. I feel like I could abuse that, but the camera locking is a bit annoying. For placing seismographs north and south - how do I know where the center of the island is? Is there somewhere to check? Let me just make sure I get the direction right. Should I climb through the mountain? That should be the shortest path. Interacting with something - oh! Is that me? Hi. This is a flashback. "Drawn eye upon us, then we might become as one. Must be a raise of sight, influence of divine influence." What was that? I didn't catch the last word. Interesting what they're doing on this island. My GPU is going crazy - I hope you can't hear the fan. That's insane, might be a memory leak. It was very loud during that cutscene. That was a rubber ducky. Let me try to place the seismograph around here. There's a structure to my right. More structures. Are these the pillars in the logbook? I'm pretty sure I'm in the north of the island now. Oh dear god, what is this? Why is it not letting me place it? There's a weird check for it. Or am I stupid? Let me see if I can interact with these torture cages. It has to be exactly north - that's insane. Big tree. Dragon blood of Yemen - like the real Yemen? Return to radio station. Is this fog normal, or am I in danger? No, no, no, no! Since they're ancient people, I believe they can't get me through the mountain. That's a bad idea, I'm gonna fall. I'm scared. Even my compass is getting blurred by the fog - that's a nice surprise. I don't have a hazmat suit but maybe I can mark this blue rock. There's a metal clanking noise. The fog is gone now. Climbing to the volcano caldera. Is that too steep? That looks like it's almost curving backwards, but it's okay - we're the best climber ever. What just happened to me? That's not good. I don't know what I'm looking at down there. Thankfully there was a platform here, otherwise I'm cooked. Left-click to analyze the gas - oh my god, that's a lot of gas. Not the best FPS player but I'll try my best. Different types of balls, and something's covering my vision. Scaling down the mountain - this is the most dangerous part of the mission. Going safe and slow. It's like I'm walking on something but I'm falling. That was sick. There's a different type of pickaxe. I wish I could speed up the traveling process so I can test more of the game. The flashlight is coming from the same position as the grappling hook, so it's doing some shadowing glitch. Mining crystals - this is like Deep Rock Galactic, the way it mines. Oh! I didn't take the drone. Hopefully I don't softlock from that because I already mined a few things. Back at the cave with hazmat suit and flashlight. This is the big crystal I need to mine. The Geiger counter is going crazy. Damn, this place is so dark. Thankfully I don't have to hear the Geiger counter anymore after placing equipment. I am playing Subnautica right now. Is that a massive skeleton? It is! So is my job done here? Is that the brain? I'm hearing some peeking noises. This is cool. Keep going down. Ow, my ears. The root of the problem. I'm stuck. Am I supposed to go somewhere? Everything's blocked. I'm really confused just as it's getting to the good part. Or am I supposed to die? Is this rock here before? I don't understand what's happening. Is this the end of the demo? Because if it is, that's okay - I enjoyed the game actually. Everything has invisible walls. Oh, maybe I need to mine through this. I could have just ended! Holy crap, I thought that was the end of the demo. Didn't seem like I had to mine that because it was just on the wall, not blocking anything. But I figured it out. Very quiet now. Wow, are these demons? This is cool. I'm hearing pulsing. I should be dead right now - this is the radiation final boss. I interact with it and now I'm stuck. Oh wow, this looks kind of creepy. So the source of the radiation is a tree. Yes, I completed it! That was nice. Beth 3D on Twitter - wow, you did everything: art, model, animation, story, programming. I enjoyed it. I didn't find any game-breaking glitches. Some observations: the dialogue pop-ups that stop gameplay could be improved, there's a choppy transition when exiting interactions, some shadow glitches, the flashlight/grappling hook position causes shadowing issues, the seismograph placement check is very strict, and I got confused in the cave section not realizing I needed to mine through the wall. But overall I enjoyed the game.
